Мадока's fellow classmate and best friend. She is in love with her childhood friend, Kёske, who was involved in an accident and now she often visits him in the hospital. Although Sayaka was frightened by Mami's death, she eventually made a wish to heal Kёske and give him the opportunity to play the violin. Due to her desire, she heals much faster than other magical girls. Despite her feelings for Kёske, upon learning that she is no longer human, Sayaka believes she has no right to claim his love and falls into despair, feeling that she is only fit for battles now. She stops cleansing her Soul Gem with Grief Seeds and eventually transforms into a witch, before being killed by Kyoko. In the reality that emerged after Madoka became a God, she dies, using all her strength to protect Kёske.
